Gulmarg

Gulmarg situated at an altitude of 2730 m above sea level, Gulmarg is a popular skiing destination located in Pir Panjal Range of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Surrounded by snow-covered lofty Himalayas, meadows of flowers, deep ravines, evergreen forested valleys, Gulmarg also has the world’s second-highest Gondola ride. Gulmarg has also been developed as an adventure hub as Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering is located here. A lot of courses on trekking, mountaineering, skiing, etc.

By Bus

Gulmarg is well-connected with regular bus services from Srinagar, Sonmarg and other neighbouring towns in Kashmir. You can choose from regular, deluxe and luxury buses operated by both government and private companies.

By Train

Jammu is the nearest railway station, at a distance of 290 kilometres. Jammu railway station is well connected to the most of the railheads in major Indian cities. Some of the popular trains are Jammu Rajdhani, Himgiri Express, Swarak Express, Andaman Express and Himsagar Express which connects the farthest railhead in Trivandrum city.

Road/ Taxi

Gulmarg is 57 kilometres from Srinagar and although it can be reached in 1-2 hours, it takes more time due to the winding high altitude roads. It is recommended that you update your car with specially equipped tyres to drive in this region.

The nearest domestic airport to Gulmarg is the Srinagar Airport located about 58 km away from Gulmarg. Daily connecting flights from all major cities around India land here. You can hire a prepaid cab outside the airport – it will cost you around Rs. 1500 one way.
