Supreme Court has allowed Rath Yatra 2020 to be conducted in Puri, Odisha with certain restrictions.

Supreme Court says, Puri Rath Yatra 2020 will be held with coordination of Temple committee, State and central Govt without compromising with health issue.

Puri Rath Yatra will be held in coordination between the Puri Temple committee, Odisha and the Central government without compromising the health issue, the SC maintained adding that the State government can even stop the Rath Yatra.

Hearing an application filed by Principal Resident Commissioner In-charge of Odisha Government, Sanjeeb Mishra, seeking modification of SC’s previous order on cancellation of Ratha Jatra, the three-judge bench of Chief Justice of India Justice SA Bobde, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari Bobde allowed the annual Ratha Yatra to be held only in Puri.

The court directed the Centre and Odisha Government to work in tandem.

The State Government can even stop Rath Yatra 2020 or festivities if they feel it is going out of hand, the CJI said.
